Tom Lynch, a Senior Associate at Phillips, DiPisa, joined several other panelists to speak about the evolving role of the Chief Medical Officer in hospitals.

Lynch spoke at the New England Healthcare Assembly’s 26th Annual Trustee Conference in Boston on December 8. He was joined on the panel by Patrick Muldoon, CEO of the UMass Memorial HealthAlliance and Dr. James Butterick, Chief Medical Officer of Cape Cod Hospital. Panelists presented their views about the CMO’s role in ensuring patient safety and quality care, and to ultimately contributing to the success of their organizations.

They also considered the changing role of the CMO in organizational hierarchies and identified the importance of implementing and monitoring assurance systems and outcomes.
